March 18: This is one of the most popular spots in Eastern State. Al Capone's cell. It is, in all probability, a reasonably accurate replica of the cell occupied by the infamous "Businessman" during his stay in Philadelphia.

March 13: While at Eastern State I found what I believe is a remnant of the opening into a cell with some of the door hardware intact. This was probably bricked up in one of the prison renovations. Best viewed in larger sizes.

July 4: This is one of 6 casemates built at Fort Mifflin. A casemate is described by Mifflin volunteers as a bombproof enclosure in the rampart of a fort. There were two sizes with the larger having a fireplace and oven. All were designed to house troops during an attack or to store munitions and served during the Civil War as housing for prisoners.

September 27: The entrance to Cellblock 3; the hospital at Eastern State Penitentiary. When in operation Eastern State boasted a "State of the Art" medical facility.
